Playing a game to competitively completely ruins the fun even when you think it doesn't. You only get a temporary sense of happiness when you win (you barely do).
In "competitive" shooters, I try to stay away from the sweaty tryhard parts as much as I can. I usually only play casual or entry-level competitve.
I may have this mindset because I'm a loser, but who knows?
